That sludge blocks filters and starves engines. Whether old diesel can be saved depends on how far gone it is. Lightly contaminated fuel can sometimes be polished — filtered and dewatered — but water-laden, bugged or long-standing diesel is normally removed and the tank cleaned. Disposal is what keeps you clean under duty-of-care rules: the diesel goes to a permitted facility rather than anywhere convenient, and the transfer note proves where it went and when. Disposal closes the duty-of-care loop for a site in Troedyrhiw Merthyr Tydfil: permitted facility, lawful handling, and a transfer note that answers the only question that matters if anyone asks — where did it go and can you show it. ## Local Welsh old diesel disposal in Troedyrhiw Merthyr Tydfil: the facts Fuel | Old diesel | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | Merthyr Tydfil | Postcode districts | CF47, CF48 | Why it degrades | Oxidises, drops sediment and grows diesel bug where water is present | Typical sources | Farm tanks, generators, plant, HGVs, boats, bowsers, bulk stores | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | Natural Resources Wales | Typical cost | Quoted per litre or per job | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where old diesel comes from around Troedyrhiw Merthyr Tydfil The old diesel we collect and dispose of in and around Troedyrhiw Merthyr Tydfil tends to come from haulage yards rationalising bulk tanks, and depots clearing slow-moving or off-spec stock.
