That sludge blocks filters and starves engines. Cold weather adds a second failure mode. As diesel ages and the temperature drops, wax crystals form and gel, and old fuel gels sooner than fresh. A tank that ran last summer can refuse to flow the following winter. The point of disposal is provability. The diesel ends up at a permitted facility, handled under environmental rules, and the transfer note records the whole movement as your evidence. The compliance value of proper disposal is the record. The fuel leaves Gurnos Merthyr Tydfil for a permitted facility, and the transfer note captures the movement — the difference between disposed of and merely gone. ## Local Welsh old diesel disposal in Gurnos Merthyr Tydfil: the facts Fuel | Old diesel | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | Merthyr Tydfil | Postcode districts | CF47, CF48 | Why it degrades | Oxidises, drops sediment and grows diesel bug where water is present | Typical sources | Farm tanks, generators, plant, HGVs, boats, bowsers, bulk stores | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | Natural Resources Wales | Typical cost | Quoted per litre or per job | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where old diesel comes from around Gurnos Merthyr Tydfil We collect and dispose of old diesel across Gurnos Merthyr Tydfil from HGVs, buses, tractors and machinery laid up or awaiting repair, and bowsers left part-full over a season. A registered carrier attends home, farm, depot, marina and commercial sites, pumps out the old diesel and issues a waste transfer note on site. **Can contaminated diesel be cleaned instead of removed?** Polishing can recover lightly contaminated diesel, but heavily bugged or watered fuel is usually removed and the tank cleaned. We can advise once we know the state of it. **Will you empty a farm or bulk tank?** Yes — domestic, farm, estate and commercial bulk tanks, bowsers and drums. Give us the volume in litres and the access and you get a price and a slot before we travel. **Do you clean the tank as well?** We remove the fuel and can arrange a tank clean where the bug or sludge means the vessel needs it before reuse. Tell us the condition when you call. **How quickly can old diesel be collected?** Often the same day for accessible sites, otherwise a booked slot. The quote and window are confirmed before anyone travels. ### Other sites in this network Fuel Fixer Wales is part of Stockbridge Capital Holdings › Fuel Fixer International › Fuel Fixer Ltd.
