We send a registered waste carrier to the tank, store, drums or cans wherever they sit in Newtown, pump the fuel out, check the vessel and issue the transfer note there and then — usually 30-60 minutes on site, quoted per litre or per job. The rules treat old kerosene as hazardous waste, so removal and disposal go through licensed channels with documentation — the clean, legal alternative to tipping it. When the tank has to be emptied, the old oil is hazardous waste. The most common call is a boiler upgrade or a switch to a heat pump, leaving a tank of kerosene with nowhere to go. Pumping it out and removing it is a short job once the tank is accessible. The disposal side is the paperwork and the destination. The kerosene is routed to a licensed facility, processed or destroyed, and logged on a transfer note so you can show it was dealt with lawfully. The compliance value of proper disposal is the record. The fuel leaves Newtown for a permitted facility, and the transfer note captures the movement — the difference between disposed of and merely gone. ## Local Welsh kerosene disposal in Newtown: the facts Fuel | Kerosene | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | Powys | Postcode districts | SY16 | Why it degrades | Grows water sludge and bacteria over time; fouls the boiler nozzle | Typical sources | Home heating tanks, decommissioning, boiler upgrades, house sales, estates | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | Natural Resources Wales | Typical cost | Quoted per litre or per job | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where kerosene comes from around Newtown In Newtown the usual sources of kerosene we collect and dispose of are leaking or corroded tanks emptied before repair, replacement or removal. A registered carrier attends home, farm, depot, marina and commercial sites, pumps out the kerosene and issues a waste transfer note on site. **Can I empty my own oil tank?** It is safer and cleaner to have it pumped out by a registered carrier, especially as the oil is hazardous waste that cannot be tipped away. You also get a transfer note. **Do you decommission the tank too?** We pump out and remove the kerosene and can advise on or arrange tank cleaning and decommissioning. Tell us what you need when you call. **How much notice do you need?** Often a collection can be booked quickly; the window is confirmed with the quote before anyone travels. Access and volume set the timing. **Will you take contaminated kerosene?** Yes — water-logged, sludged or bacterially spoiled kerosene is collected and disposed of the same way, with documentation. ### Other sites in this network Fuel Fixer Wales is part of Stockbridge Capital Holdings › Fuel Fixer International › Fuel Fixer Ltd.
